CT DMV Offices Closed Amid COVID-19

As of yesterday, March 17, 2020, all Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) locations and branches were ordered closed to the public by the Commissioner starting March 18, 2020. Partners of the DMV like Nutmeg Credit Union and AAA will make their own determinations on how to proceed. As a result of this closure, the DMV is extending license renewals 90 days for those with expiring licenses, learner’s permits, and and identity cards for those with cars expiring March 10 to June 8, 2020. Pedestrian Fatalities Up 19% In Connecticut In 2019

The Governors’ Highway Safety Association recently released a report on pedestrian traffic fatalities. Connecticut fatalities have increased 19% from 2018 to 2019. From January to June 2019, 27 pedestrians were killed on Connecticut roadways; for the same time period in 2018, 23 pedestrians were killed. The GHSA cites increased unsafe driving behaviors, unfriendly infrastructure, as well as an increased presence of sport utility vehicles (SUV). Both motorists and pedestrians have a responsibility to stay safe on the roads. Here are a few things both can do: Obey all posted signage, lights, and traffic laws. Stay alert whether behind the wheel or on the sidewalk. Keep your phone in your pocket or purse when traveling to avoid distraction.
