About Ralph E. Marcarelli, Hon., Esq.
Commissioner Marcarelli first joined the firm in 1989 and left it to become Chief Counsel to the Connecticut Commissioner of Consumer Protection and Chief Hearing Officer of the State Liquor Commission. He was later named Workers' Compensation Commissioner and, upon retirement, returned to the firm Of Counsel.
He was an alumnus of the Georgetown Law Center and the University of Bridgeport Law School. Prior to his legal studies, he received an A.B. from Fairfield University, an M.A. from Middlebury College, and an M.Phil. and Ph.D. from Yale University. He served in the Office of International Affairs of HUD, as consultant to the U.S. Department of State, as Senior Advisor to the Director of ACTION, and as Counsel to the Connecticut Republican Party, and taught at various colleges and universities, both in the U.S. and in Europe. Because of his long history of involvement and leadership in various civic, charitable, and cultural activities over the years, he was the recipient of numerous awards and honors.
Born in New Haven on October 3, 1935, Commissioner Marcarelli was a resident of Palm City, Florida when he passed away on January 11, 2026, at the age of 90.
