A New Haven auto accident that killed a North Haven woman is being blamed in large part on excessive speed.  The driver that was killed was ejected from her vehicle after a collision with another vehicle which was following at an excessive speed.  Once the two vehicles collided one car spun out of control and hit the guardrail which then ejected the driver from the car.  After she was ejected from the vehicle she was struck in the roadway. This terrible and tragic accident was a direct result of excessive speed which is often the cause of devastating accidents.  In fact, the greater the speed of a vehicle that is involved in an accident the deadlier the accident becomes.  While excessive speed does not always lead to a fatal accident it is often a factor in these types of accidents being more dangerous for all involved. There is a recall that has been issued by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Chrysler for nearly 63,000 Jeep Wranglers from 2021-2023.  The vehicles have an issue with the hybrid electric engine that has been known to shutdown while the vehicle is being operated which can lead to a serious situation which could initiate a New Haven auto accident. December is National Drunk and Drugged Driving Prevention Month and so there is no better time then now to take stock in how we are doing with prevention of this type of behavior.  Unfortunately, the answer is, not very good.  Drunk driving is one of the biggest factors in many New Haven auto accidents and the truth is that throughout the United States in 2021 it was a factor in many incidents as well.
