Recent Close Calls Remind Drivers To “Move Over” It’s The Law

There have been a recent series of events that have occurred in the state of Connecticut that are good reminders that it is the law that people who are driving down the highway and approaching an emergency vehicle that is stopped on the side of the road with lights flashing the on-coming traffic is required to “move over” one lane or slow down to a reasonable speed to pass safely. Trucks And SUVs Far More Likely To Cause A New Haven Pedestrian Accident

In a recent study conducted by the Insurance Institute For Highway Safety (IIHS) it was found that trucks and SUVs were more likely to cause an injury in an accident with a pedestrian then those driving sedans. While the study didn’t look specifically at New Haven pedestrian accidents it can be reasonably concluded that this same finding would hold true in the Elm City as a general rule. All but six states in the United States have some law on the books that specifies how a driver should pass a cyclist when sharing the road.
