Fiery Accident Is A Reminder That Safety Cannot Be Taken Lightly

When two unidentified people were traveling together in North Haven they ended up getting off the exit of I91 and crashing into a tree.  Their car burst into flames and they were killed.  This type of accident is far too common and should serve as a reminder that safety when driving should not be taken lightly in any way.  It is a reminder that when behind the wheel we are responsible for a very heavy and fast moving machine that can, at any point, take our lives or the lives of those we are sharing the road with.

It is for this reason that we take this opportunity to share some safety measures you should always take so you can avoid being in a New Haven auto accident and drive these heavy pieces of fasting moving metal very carefully.  Following these safety measures among others can help save your life and the life of your travel companion.

1.) Slow down.  It is so important to drive at the speed limit.  These speed limits are researched and reviewed by many safety experts and are set for specific road conditions.  If you begin to accelerate over the posted speed limit you are putting yourself at risk of a serious injury or death.  This is the number one safety measure you should take to keep yourself safe as excessive speed is one of the deadliest things you can do behind the wheel.

2.) In the vein of following posted speed limit signs you should follow all posted traffic signs.  A stop sign for instance is not a suggestion it is a requirement.  You should always keep your head up and be aware of all signs that are posted so you can follow the rules of the road.  Just like speed limits, posted street direction signs are put in place for a specific reason and not following them will put your life in danger.

3.) Always pay attention to the road in front of you.  Distracted driving is a common problem that can lead to serious injury or death.  Being distracted goes well beyond just looking down at your cellphone, although you should never do that because it can be very damaging.  As a driver you can be distracted by many things including passengers in your vehicle, the radio, food and many other things.  If you do your best to block out the distractions and focus entirely on the road you will put yourself in a much safer position when driving.

4.) Never drive tired.  Being tired behind the wheel is one of the deadliest things you can do.  If you are tired, stay where you are and squeeze in a nap.  If you cannot do that where you are, call a cab or use a ride share so you can get to your destination safely and when you are well rested head back for your car and drive it home.

There are a number of things you can do to keep yourself safe and put yourself in the best position to avoid a New Haven auto accident.  Deadly crashes like the one in North Haven are devastating reminders of why these safety measures are so critical and how you can be your own best safety officer when you are behind the wheel.
