When the clock struck midnight on July 1, over 30 new laws went into effect in the State of Connecticut. Below are some highlights:
- Good Samaritan Child Abuse/Neglect. This law provides immunity from civil or criminal litigation for anyone who acts in good faith to medically assist a child who is being neglected or abused.
- Allergy Training for School Bus Drivers. School bus drivers will learn how to assist a child who is suffering from a food allergy including how to administer an EpiPen. School bus drivers will be immune from lawsuits involving the administration of drugs during an allergic reaction.
- Telehealth prescriptions. A telehealth provider can now prescribe schedule II and III controlled substances other than opioid drugs.
- Behavior analysts. Behavior analysts are now mandated reporters of suspected child abuse and neglect.
