When the clock struck midnight January 1, 2020, nearly 2 dozen new laws went into effect in the State of Connecticut. Below are some highlights:

  1. Sales tax expansion. Sales tax of 6.35% will now be included on dry cleaning, laundry, and parking. A boat registration tax will add $5 for in state and $20 for out-of-state.
  2. Extended license renewals.  Connecticut driver’s licenses now renew on a 8 year cycle instead of 6. An additional year was added to vehicle registrations.
