Staying Safe At Festivals This Summer
May 17, 2021Remember the good old days of 2019 when summers meant concerts on the green and festivals of arts and ideas? You won’t have to use your imagination this year as summer festivals are coming back to the Elm City. This is great news for area businesses and for seekers of fun everywhere, but it also means we need to remember some of the safety rules that will help us avoid a New Haven personal injury.
Gathering in crowds to experience arts and culture will be all the rage this summer in New Haven, but it also means other dangers to consider besides just the Coronavirus pandemic. Certainly this is one consideration, but with cases and hospitalizations on the decline and more and more things opening up, we need to turn our attention to some of the more traditional injury issues that face us when we are out in a crowd. If you’re planning to head out and enjoy all that the city has to offer this summer, you will want to keep the following in mind;
1. Have an exit plan. If something were to go wrong and you needed to get away from the crowd quickly, how will you do it? If you don’t know, you should decide once you get to the event so you can be prepared in the event of an emergency.
2. Pick a location to meet your group if you get separated. Parents of young children are used to doing this, but no matter their age, you will want to have a plan in place for all members of your group.
3. Be mindful of your surroundings. If you are in an area where there are tripping hazards you may want to tread carefully.
4. Beware of traffic. Even if roads are closed off and there is an increased police presence accidents happen and could be very serious.
5. Have fun and be responsible. Having fun is the key ingredient for any successful festival over the summer, but being responsible is also important. If you’re consuming alcohol, make sure you drink a reasonable amount and don’t get out of hand. If you are intoxicated it can lead to accidents.
Knowing your plan before you go to any summer festival is critical to avoiding a New Haven personal injury. We will be there right alongside you enjoying ourselves, but let’s all stay safe and make the summer of 2021 the biggest comeback in New Haven festival history!
