Three Places You Might Not Expect A New Haven Slip And Fall Accident To Happen

You might be familiar with some of the locations where you can get yourself injured by getting into a New Haven slip and fall accident as they may seem pretty obvious.  When you are walking down the sidewalk and the cement is broken up, it may be pretty obvious that there is a fall hazard there.  If you’re on your way to a friend’s house and there is a lip that you didn’t see on their driveway, you may not be surprised when an injury occurs.  There are, however, places where you will go and not even be thinking about getting hurt as the result of a slip or fall and then you wind up getting injured by surprise.

Of course it is true that a slip and fall injury could happen anywhere.  One bad step somewhere and you could find yourself head over heels into a serious injury that could land you in the Emergency Room of the hospital.  The truth of the matter is that there are places where you are more likely to get injured than other places.  It is important to think about where you are going for the day that you think about whether or not you’ll be safe at that destination.  Even if there is an elevated risk, that doesn’t mean you can’t go to the location, but it just means that you should be a little more cautious as a result of knowing that there is a risk.

This fall, as the leaves are changing colors, there are some destinations that you frequent that you might not think about the dangers or risks that they present, but when you are alerted to them you will take a little extra precaution.  Here are three places you might not expect that could present a hazard to you as you enjoy the changing seasons here in the state of Connecticut.

1.) A football stadium:  Whether you’re taking in the Harvard v. Yale game or a local high school football classic, you will want to be careful because the steep stairs in stadiums are prime examples of a tripping and falling hazard that you might not expect, but that could get you seriously injured in the long run.  If you’re not paying attention as your climbing to your seat in the stadium or on your way down to get some refreshments, you might find yourself injured before you know it.

2.) Apple picking/farm stands:  An age old classic autumn activity in New England is heading out to a farm and doing either pick your own apples or pumpkins.  The only problem with this is the slipping and falling risk.  When you’re out in the orchard and looking for the perfect apple to fill your bushel with you may miss the squished, fallen apple that is on the ground beneath your feet and you could find yourself injured before you get to that first bite of apple pie.

3.) Festival or fair: If you’re heading up north to the Big E or to any one of our incredible local fairs here in the state of Connecticut you need to be on the lookout for hazards that could cause you harm.  You could be walking to the next ride when all of a sudden you trip on the wires that are crossing the pathway (even if they are properly covered up) and you could find yourself headfirst on the pavement before you get to the next thrilling adventure.

New England has so many incredibly enjoyable fall festivities to participate in, but not all of them are as risk free as they may seem on the surface.  If you’re not careful you may end up involved in a New Haven slip and fall accident and be injured by one of your favorite past times.  Taking a moment to consider where you’re heading and the safety precautions you can take will help you have a safe and happy fall season.
