Three Things That Keep Us Safe And Thankful All Year Long

It is here, Thanksgiving Day.  A day that we get to eat lots of delicious food, see family and friends we haven’t seen for quite some time and raise a glass to the things that we are grateful for throughout the year.  We thought we would take this opportunity to wish you and your family a Happy Thanksgiving and to also look at some of the things that keep us safe throughout the year that we are grateful for but that probably don’t get acknowledged too often.  The three things we are most grateful for have been keeping us safe for quite some time while behind the wheel of our vehicles and even in the event that there is a New Haven auto accident they come to our rescue and reduce our risk of injury even in the most serious of accidents.

If you’re one of the more than 55 million people who are expected to travel this holiday weekend, you should be thankful for these items too.  Even without you truly being aware of them they are working to keep you safe and free from injury.  Just by reading this post you will have a better sense of the importance of these items in keeping you safe as you drive to and from your destination both during the holidays and throughout the year.

We may not say these items at our annual “what are you thankful for” roundtable at dinner today, but we are definitely sharing them here because we are truly grateful for all of them.

1.) Seatbelts.  One of the many safety items that we take for granted, but they really do save lives.  There is good news to report, it is estimated that 91% of all Americans wear seatbelts when behind the wheel of a car or as a passenger in a vehicle.  While the number really should be at 100% it is great to see such a dramatic increase in the amount of seatbelts being worn by drivers of all ages.

2.) Airbags.  We hope that you will never have to be grateful for an airbag, but if you are in an accident it is possible that you will need an airbag to prevent your injury from being catastrophic.  We are grateful for them even though they are hidden away and out of plain sight, we know they are there, ready and willing to protect us if they are needed.  In the event that they are deployed we will thank our lucky stars that they were there to keep us safe.

3.) Automated safety technology.  It has been reported that this safety technology is not perfected yet, but it gets better and better each year and things like automatic braking systems and lane assistant technologies are another tool in your safety tool belt. We are grateful that this technology exists and that it is getting more sophisticated as the years go on.  While automated vehicles are on the horizon, this technology will keep the vast majority of us safe for years to come.

It might seem like a funny thing to be grateful for inanimate objects, but these elements of a car’s safety apparatus are likely to help you avoid a New Haven auto accident or make it so that an accident is not as severe as it would have been had you not had these things in your vehicle.  So, weird as it may be, we are taking this Thanksgiving morning to be grateful for these items that keep you and your loved ones safe year round.

We wish you and your family and friends a very Happy Thanksgiving.  May your weekend be fun, exciting and SAFE.
