We’re Safely Tipping Our Hat To International Beer Day
August 2, 2021Every year on the first Friday in August the world comes together to have a pint on International Beer Day. We are blessed to have many local and craft breweries in and around our area that are making delicious beer each and every day. It is important to us that we celebrate these spots with excitement but also with safety. As we raise our glass to beer throughout our city and nearby breweries we also want to remind you that drinking while driving makes it much more likely that you will get into a New Haven auto accident or get pulled over and charged with driving under the influence (DUI.)
Here are some friendly reminders about the impact that alcohol (yes even beer) has on your ability to drive safely;
- It takes between 4-5 beers to get your blood alcohol level to .08, the legal limit in Connecticut. Of course this varies based on your weight, but this is a general rule
- Driving after one beer can significantly impact your reaction time behind the wheel. After four to five beers you are putting yourself and your passengers in grave danger
- The only way to maintain complete safety is to either designate a driver or use a rideshare app to get home
If you want to support your local brewery, we support that, but there are ways to do it safely and avoid any dangerous interactions on the roads. Take a growler or a case of beers home with you and keep them stowed until you are safely home. The brewery will thank you for it and you will be proudly celebrating International Beer Day without putting yourself at risk of getting into a New Haven auto accident.
Accidents do happen and if you are involved in one that results in an injury you may need an attorney to review your case. Contact our office and one of our experienced attorneys will work to protect your long-term interests.
