The video above was shared with WTNH and shows, what appears to be a coyote running down I-95 at full speed. Thankfully there was limited traffic on the road, but this could have happened during rush hour and had devastating impacts for both the animal and the drivers on the road. Over the years we have discussed driving under the influence of alcohol on this blog.  The effects are astounding as to what it does to your ability to drive and be a safe driver.  We have spent less time talking about the effects of marijuana and a new AAA study finds that drivers who drive under the influence of marijuana AND alcohol may be even more likely then those under the influence of just alcohol to undertake risky behaviors while driving and increase their risks of a Connecticut auto accident. The study, conducted as part of the AAA Foundation’s Traffic Safety Culture Index looked at those who drove while under the influence of alcohol and compared that to those who had driven while under the influence of alcohol and marijuana.  The findings showed an increase across the board in risky behaviors for the later group.  This included the following; 55% Read the full article…

Recently a car struck a parked tractor trailer truck in Waterbury and the driver was killed.  The car sped into the opposite lane and slammed into the parked truck causing serious damage to the car and killing the driver.  While police have not identified the cause of the accident, excessive speed was involved.  This type of incident is a good reminder that speed is very often a factor in New Haven auto accidents.
