As of yesterday, March 17, 2020, all Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) locations and branches were ordered closed to the public by the Commissioner starting March 18, 2020. Partners of the DMV like Nutmeg Credit Union and AAA will make their own determinations on how to proceed.

As a result of this closure, the DMV is extending license renewals 90 days for those with expiring licenses, learner’s permits, and and identity cards for those with cars expiring March 10 to June 8, 2020.

Many transactions for the DMV can be conducted online, via mail, and via telephone. For a complete list, click here.
