Recently a car struck a parked tractor trailer truck in Waterbury and the driver was killed. The car sped into the opposite lane and slammed into the parked truck causing serious damage to the car and killing the driver. While police have not identified the cause of the accident, excessive speed was involved. This type of incident is a good reminder that speed is very often a factor in New Haven auto accidents. Parents Are Less Likely To Drive Distracted With Kids In The Car

Some good news during this National Distracted Driving Awareness Month. A recent study surveyed 1,000 people aged 25 and older about their habits driving when alone and then with kids in the car and the results were positive. There was a clear decline in distracted driving behaviors when the adult was driving with a child in the car versus driving when they were alone in the car. New Fines Announced For New Haven ATV Riders

The City of New Haven amended a city ordinance that restricts the use of off-road vehicles on city streets. According to Mayor Elicker the fines and restrictions just strengthen already existing ordinance that limits the use of these types of vehicles from riding on city streets. The amendment will levy a fine of up to $2,000 for those who are caught.
